Team

Some of the most important decisions you will make in your first 90 days concern your team. No matter what you deliver or how well you get on with your boss or your contemporaries, your relationship with your team can make or break you.

Among the risks of having a team which does not understand you and will not follow your direction is that you will be pulling the horsepower on your own to get things done. They may also have more influence in the organisation initially than you do – and can do you damage through what they say to others and your own boss.

And, yet, you cannot afford to have the wrong people on your team. Depending on the challenges you face, you will need to assess your team, bond with them, and possibly make key changes very quickly.
