When will I feel ready to make decisions?

The purpose of this section is not to move you to a finite point beyond which your decisions will be fallible, but only to make you more aware of the quantity and depth of knowledge you need to have in order not to make too many naïve or mistaken decisions.

It is possible that good decisions can be taken after your first week – earlier if the situation demands. But taking decisions so early requires you to accept a very high level of risk. The more you learn, the lower the risk of decision-making, but it never truly goes away.

The answer to the question is: ‘when you feel that doing so presents an acceptable and manageable level of risk’.
